Fishing methods: solutions for all fishermen

In Patagonia, several fishing methods can be practised to suit each angler’s experience level, preferences and expectations. Fly fishing, the region’s flagship discipline, as well as spin fishing are both available, offering a wide range of approaches and sensations.

You will be accompanied by a qualified French guide, occasionally supported by a local guide depending on the area and conditions, particularly for specific outings such as canoe fishing for those who wish to experience a more immersive approach.

Most sessions take place wading from the bank, allowing for precise reading of the water and a technical approach to targeting fish. For anglers who have never practised fly fishing, a complete introduction can be provided, with personalised guidance and progressive instruction.

The Río Simpson is renowned as a true paradise for dry fly fishing, offering spectacular surface action. However, the use of streamers remains highly effective in certain deeper areas or when targeting larger trophy fish capable of delivering unforgettable fights.

This diversity of techniques ensures a tailored experience for everyone, whether you are a curious beginner or an experienced angler seeking thrilling performance

Season and climate: a taste of summer in the middle of winter

The best time for fishing in Patagonia runs from December to the end of March, corresponding to spring and summer in the Southern Hemisphere. This period offers particularly favourable conditions, both for fishing and for discovering the region’s spectacular landscapes.

The transition from the European winter to the mild summer climate of Patagonia is generally very smooth, making the stay all the more comfortable and refreshing. Temperatures are pleasant, allowing you to fully enjoy long, bright days spent outdoors.

However, Patagonia’s climate remains true to its reputation: changeable and sometimes unpredictable. Winds can rise quickly and sudden showers may occur. It is therefore strongly recommended to bring suitable clothing, including a waterproof and windproof jacket, to ensure comfort in all conditions and allow you to fully enjoy your fishing experience.
